Once again, overnight ratings increased for weekend PGA Tour coverage.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Byron Nelson Championship earned a 2.0 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 25% from last year (1.6) but down a tick from 2013 (2.1). The 2.0 overnight is the second-highest for final round coverage of the tournament since at least 2008.
Nine of the past 12 final round PGA Tour telecasts (including The Masters and the WGC Match Play) have had an increase in overnight ratings — and eight of those nine have been up by double-digits.
The previous day, third round action earned a 1.5 overnight — up 25% from last year (1.2) and up 15% from 2013 (1.3). 11 of the past 12 third round telecasts have had an increase in overnights.
