The Gold Cup has performed well thus far on both Univision and Fox Sports.
Sunday’s Mexico/Guatemala CONCACAF Gold Cup match drew 3.8 million viewers on Univision and Univision Deportes Network, up 94% from Mexico’s second Gold Cup match in 2013, against Canada on UniMas (2.0M). The match ranks as easily the most-watched of the Gold Cup thus far, topping the previous high of 3.2 million for Mexico/Cuba on UniMas and UDN.
The Univision networks have averaged 1.5 million viewers for Gold Cup coverage thus far, up 41% from 2013.
While Univision has outperformed Fox Sports 1 for each Gold Cup match thus far, the latter network has had its own successes. Friday’s USA/Haiti match drew a 1.0 million viewers on FS1, the network’s largest audience ever for men’s soccer. The previous high was 986,000 for USA/Honduras last Tuesday.
Overall, the match had a combined 2.3 million viewers across UniMas/UDN and FS1.
