The U.S. Women’s Open had a rough weekend on FOX.
Final round coverage of the U.S. Women’s Open drew a 0.7 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, down 59% from last year (1.7) and down 22% from 2013 (0.9), both on NBC. The 0.7 is the lowest for the final round since at least 1996, falling below the previous mark of 0.8 in 2011.
This year was the fourth of the past five in which final round coverage dipped below the 1.0 mark.
Third round coverage the previous day drew a 0.55 overnight — down 54% from last year (1.2), down 20% from 2013 (0.7), and the lowest third round overnight since at least 1996. The previous low was a 0.7 set in multiple years.
The multi-year lows continued a lukewarm debut for the USGA on FOX. Last month’s U.S. Open scored its third-lowest final round overnight in 27 years, with the final numbers ranking even worse historically.
Shifting to Fox Sports 1, Friday’s second round coverage drew a 0.2 overnight — down 60% from last year (0.5) and even with 2013 (0.2).
