The Chicago Cubs scored their highest rating on CSN Chicago since 2009. In other news, ESPN hit a season-high for weeknight MLB, and viewership dropped for NASCAR’s Xfinity Series at Watkins Glen.

- Tuesday’s Brewers/Cubs Major League Baseball game scored a 5.1 rating on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the network’s highest rated Cubs telecast since Phillies/Cubs six years earlier (6.1). Cubs games have now averaged a 3.1 rating so far this season, more than doubling last year’s full-season average (1.5). (CSN Chicago, Twitter)
ESPN Scores Top Weeknight Audience of MLB Season
- The Tigers/Royals Monday Night Baseball game drew 1.1 million viewers on ESPN, down 5% from Tigers/Yankees last year (1.2M), down 8% from Dodgers/Cardinals in 2013 (1.2M), but still the largest weeknight audience of the season on any network. It edged the previous high held by Indians/Astros on Opening Day (1.11M to 1.08M). So far this season, only five weeknight telecasts have managed to crack the one million mark. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
Xfinity Series Down at Watkins Glen, With Caveat
- NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Watkins Glen earned 1.4 million viewers on NBCSN Saturday afternoon, down 30% from last year (1.9M) and down 21% from 2013 (1.7M), with the caveat that both of those races aired on ABC. The race ranks as the second-most watched out of the five on NBCSN this season. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
