ESPN’s Dodgers/Pirates Down From Yankees/Red Sox Last Year
- The Dodgers/Pirates Sunday Night Baseball game drew 1.8 million viewers on ESPN, down 21% from Yankees/Red Sox last year (2.2M) but up 14% from Braves/Phillies in 2013 (1.6M). Excluding rainouts, it was the seventh of the past eight Sunday night games to decline. ESPN also televised Friday’s game between the teams, earning 783,000.
TBS Hits Season-High For Giants/Cubs
- In other MLB action, Giants/Cubs drew 657,000 viewers on TBS Sunday afternoon — easily the network’s most-watched game of the season (five telecasts). Fox Sports 1 scored 516,000 for Dodgers/Pirates Saturday afternoon, down 16% from Yankees/Red Sox last year (616K), and 519,000 for Cardinals/Brewers later in the night.
ESPN Hits MLS High For Galaxy/Sounders
- Sunday’s Galaxy/Sounders Major League Soccer match drew 549,000 viewers on ESPN, the largest MLS audience of the season on an English-language network. The previous high was 539,000 for Orlando City/NYC FC on ESPN2 March 8 (539K).
