The English Premier League is staying put on the NBC family of networks.
NBC Sports Group announced Monday that has reached a six-year extension to continue televising English Premier League matches. Under the agreement, the NBC family of networks will continue to air all 380 Premier League matches per season. Financial terms were not immediately available.
The news was first reported by the New York Times.
Sports Business Daily reported last week that the Premier League was soliciting three and six year bids from NBC and rivals ESPN and Fox Sports, which televised matches before NBC acquired rights. In the end, the Premier League went with the greatest stability possible — the same partner over the longest period of time.
NBC, which began its third season of Premier League coverage on Saturday, will have held rights for nine years by the time the contract expires in 2022.
