Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully is returning for a 67th season. In other news, Turner Sports’ Craig Sager is showing improvement in his leukemia treatment, and Fox Sports’ Joe Buck will begin hosting a new show on DirecTV’s Audience Network.
Scully Returning
- Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play voice Vin Scully will return to the team for the 2016 season, it was announced Friday. The news came just over a week after The Los Angeles Times reported that he was undecided on returning for a 67th season. Scully, who has broadcast Dodgers games since 1950, has returned to the team every year after announcing his intention to retire in 2009. (Dodgers.com)
Sager Improving
- Turner Sports sideline reporter Craig Sager, who is battling leukemia, said last Sunday that his condition is improving. Making a guest appearance on TBS’ Dodgers/Astros game, Sager told colleagues Ernie Johnson and Cal Ripken Jr. that his “doctors say they couldn’t be happier and things couldn’t be in a better place.” (Houston Chronicle)
Buck Hosting
- Fox Sports broadcaster Joe Buck will host a new interview series on DirecTV’s Audience Network, Variety reported this week. Titled Undeniable with Joe Buck, the 10-episode show will feature Buck talking one-on-one with a series of sports luminaries such as Derek Jeter and Wayne Gretzky. The show, which has already begun taping, is expected to debut this fall. (Variety)
