CBS scored decent enough numbers for its earliest SEC football game in a dozen years.
The Louisville/Auburn college football game drew a 2.6 overnight rating on CBS, the network’s lowest rated SEC debut in the metered markets since at least 2007. Last year’s Georgia/South Carolina debut, which took place in week three, drew a 4.2 overnight.
The last time CBS aired a week one college football game, 2012, an early morning Notre Dame/Navy game from Ireland drew a 1.9 overnight. The last time it aired a week one SEC telecast, 2003, USC/Auburn drew a 3.0 in an early evening window.
Head-to-head, Auburn’s win topped BYU/Nebraska on ABC by 30% (2.0) and more-than-doubled Virginia/UCLA on FOX (1.1).
