Monday Night Football tied its highest Week 6 overnight in at least seven years.
The Week 6 Giants/Eagles Monday Night Football game drew a 9.6 overnight rating on ESPN, up 12% from 49ers/Rams last year (8.6), up 10% from Colts/Chargers in 2013 (8.7), and tied with Broncos/Chargers in 2009 as the highest Week 6 MNF overnight since at least 2008.
Overnights peaked at an 11.7 from 9:45-10 PM ET. ESPN’s much-hyped Star Wars trailer aired in the following quarter-hour.
The Eagles’ win was the fourth of seven MNF telecasts this season to have an increase in the overnights, with each of the four being all-NFC matchups. The three games to include at least one AFC team have declined.
The ESPN telecast drew a 16.5 rating in Philadlephia and a 9.4 in New York. The game was simulcast on local affiliates in both markets, earning a 15.8 on independent Philadelphia affiliate WPHL and a 4.6 on New York CW affiliate WPIX. West Palm Beach (14.1), New Orleans (13.9) and Norfolk, VA (13.7) were the other markets in the top five.
