Two of the highest-profile Premier League clubs delivered a season-high audience on NBCSN.
The Arsenal/Manchester United English Premier League match drew 866,000 viewers on NBCSN Sunday morning, up 116% from Stoke City/Swansea City last year (401K), up 214% from Aston Villa/Tottenham in 2013 (276K). The comparable telecasts both last season and in 2013 took place two weeks later on the calendar.
Sunday’s match ranks as the most-watched Premier League match of the season on cable and the eighth-most watched in U.S. cable history. Four of the top ten matches have taken place in this calendar year.
Everton/Liverpool drew 436,000 viewers earlier in the morning, up 33% from Queens Park/Liverpool last year (327K).
Shifting to Saturday, NBCSN drew 396,000 viewers for Manchester City/Newcastle — up 2% from Crystal Palace/Chelsea last year (390K) and up 1% from Manchester United/Southampton in 2013 (393K). The concurrent Sunderland/West Ham match drew 188,000 on USA Network, bringing the combined total in the window to 584,000.
The lone dud of the weekend was Crystal Palace/West Brom in Saturday’s early morning window, which drew 218,000 viewers on NBCSN — down 21% form Manchester City/Tottenham last year (276K) and down 30% from Newcastle/Liverpool in 2013 (313K).
