Viewership dropped for the second game of the WNBA Finals. In other news, the Premier Boxing Champions series was low again on FS1, and NBA TV saw a decline for NBA preseason coverage.
Game 2 of WNBA Finals Down
- Game 2 of the Fever/Lynx WNBA Finals drew 410,000 viewers on ESPN2 Tuesday night, down 46% from Sky/Mercury on ESPN last year (763K) but up 25% from Dream/Lynx on ESPN2 in 2013 (328K). Unlike last year’s game, which did not face notable competition, the telecast aired directly opposite the Astros/Yankees MLB playoff game on ESPN (7.6M). Game 2 of the 2012 Fever/Lynx series had 778,000 viewers on ESPN.
PBC Low Again on FS1
- Tuesday’s Premier Boxing Champions card drew 153,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1, down 24% from the previous week (201K) and the second-smallest PBC audience on any network (29 telecasts). The only telecast to earn a smaller audience aired on FS1 three weeks earlier (152K). The five PBC events on FS1 have been the series’ five least-watched.
NBA TV Sees Drop For Preseason Game
- NBA TV earned 118,000 viewers for the Sixers/Wizards NBA preseason game Tuesday night, down 25% from Bulls/Pistons on the comparable night last year (158K) but up 24% from Nets/Wizards in 2013 (95K). In other action, the Celtics’ matchup with Italian team Milan had just 32,000 viewers earlier in the day, and Sunday’s Jazz/Lakers game from Honolulu scored a preseason-high 156,000.
