For the second time in three games, the Royals/Mets World Series hit a six-year high in the metered markets.
Game 3 of the Royals/Mets World Series drew a 9.1 overnight rating on FOX Friday, up 12% from Royals/Giants last year (8.1) and up 5% from Red Sox/Cardinals on a Saturday night in 2013 (8.7). The 9.1 is the highest for a Game 3 of the World Series since Yankees/Phillies in 2009 (10.8).
Keep in mind that Game 3 of the World Series aired on a Saturday night from 2007-13. While the “Friday Night Death Slot” is not exactly a recipe for good television ratings, it is still better than Saturday night — the lowest rated and least-programmed night of the week.
With that caveat in mind, Game 3 was the second of the Royals/Mets series to hit a six-year high in the overnights — joining Tuesday’s Game 1 (10.5). Game 2 did not hit a multi-year high in the overnights (9.3), but did so in the final tally.
Local numbers were not immediately available for Friday’s game.
