The annual Florida/Georgia game was less of a draw this year, but still topped last year’s comparable week nine matchup.
The Florida/Georgia college football game drew a 3.4 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, up a tick from Mississippi State/Kentucky last year (3.3) and up 21% from Tennessee/Alabama in 2013 (2.8). The 3.4 was the second-highest college football overnight of the weekend, trailing only ABC’s Notre Dame/Temple game (3.9).
The SEC on CBS has now failed to top the charts in seven of nine weeks this season, after doing so nine times in 13 tries last year. With that said, Saturday’s game did win its timeslot, easily topping ABC’s competing regional window (2.3) and USC/California on FOX (1.6).
Compared to last year’s Florida/Georgia game, which took place on week later in the season, the Gators’ rout declined 15% from last year (4.0). Overall, the 3.4 is tied with 2013 as the lowest for the rivalry in the metered markets in at least a decade.
