The low-profile Cardinals and the .500 Seahawks combined for a season-low overnight on NBC.
The Week 10 Cardinals/Seahawks Sunday Night Football game earned a 12.6 overnight rating on NBC, up 14% from Bears/Packers last year (11.1) but down 3% from Cowboys/Saints in 2013 (13.0). Last year’s game was a rout which saw Green Bay lead 42-0 at halftime.
The Cardinals’ wild win ranks as the lowest rated SNF telecast of the season in the metered markets, falling below the previous mark of 13.1 for 49ers/Giants in Week 5. It snapped a streak of 10 straight telecasts to top a 13.0 overnight rating, NBC’s longest to start a season since acquiring rights.
Despite the season-low, Sunday’s game was the 10th of 11 NFL telecasts on NBC this season to score a year-over-year increase — and the seventh to have a double-digit bump.
Seattle was the top market with a 48.4 rating, followed by Phoenix (32.2). The latter market scored its second-highest SNF rating ever, trailing only a 35.2 for another Seahawks/Cardinals game last year. Portland (24.4), Albuquerque (17.7) and Las Vegas (17.6) rounded out the top five.
