A pair of disappointing teams tied a season-low overnight rating for Monday Night Football.
The Week 15 Lions/Saints Monday Night Football game earned a 7.4 overnight rating on ESPN, down 3% from Saints/Bears last year (7.6), down 24% from Ravens/Lions in 2013 (9.7), and tied as the lowest MNF overnight of the season (16 telecasts). Only Ravens/Browns in Week 12, another matchup of non-playoff teams, had as low a rating in the metered markets.
Overnights peaked at an 8.8 from 9:45-10 PM ET, marking yet another week — the 11th in 15 this season — that MNF has peaked before 10 PM.
ESPN’s telecast drew an 11.2 rating in New Orleans and an 8.6 in Detroit. It was simulcast on local broadcast affiliates in both markets, earning a 25.0 on New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU and a 16.2 on Detroit ABC affiliate WXYZ. Las Vegas (10.7) was the top neutral market, followed by San Diego and Seattle (10.0 in each).
