College basketball overnights sank on CBS over the weekend. In other news, NBC had another 0.8 overnight for Premier League action, and golf’s Shark Shootout held steady on FOX.
Big Drop For OSU/UConn on CBS
- The Ohio State/Connecticut college basketball game earned a 0.9 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, down 47% from North Carolina/Kentucky last year (1.7) and down 40% from Arizona/Michigan in 2013 (1.5). Later in the day, Cincinnati/Xavier scored a 0.5 on FOX; there was no comparable window last year or in 2013.
Another 0.8 Overnight For EPL on NBC
- NBC drew a 0.8 overnight rating for Saturday’s Bournemouth/Manchester United English Premier League match, doubling Arsenal/Newcastle last year (0.4) and up 300% from Hull City/Stoke City in 2013 (0.2), with the caveat that those two matches aired on NBCSN. NBC has now scored a 0.8 overnight for five consecutive matches.
Shark Shootout Overnights Flat
- Final round coverage of the Shark Shootout golf tournament scored a 0.6 overnight rating on FOX Saturday afternoon, even with last year and up a tick from 2013, when coverage aired on a Sunday on NBC (0.5). The telecast drew the same overnight as the Father/Son Challenge on NBC, which took place the same day.
