A pair of 5-7 teams could not lift the ratings for Monday Night Football.
The Week 14 Giants/Dolphins Monday Night Football game drew an 8.7 overnight rating on ESPN, down 3% from Falcons/Packers last year (9.0) and down 21% from Cowboys/Bears in 2013 (11.0). The 8.7 is the lowest for MNF in Week 14 since Rams/Seahawks in 2011 (7.0).
Overnights peaked at a 9.8 from 9:45-10 PM ET, marking the 10th time in 14 weeks this season that MNF has peaked before 10 PM.
The Giants’ win snapped a four week run of increases for Monday Night Football in the metered markets. For the season, it ranks 10th out of 15 Monday night games.
ESPN’s telecast had an 8.0 rating in New York and a 6.5 in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale. It was simulcast on local affiliates in both markets, with an 8.2 on N.Y. ABC affiliate WABC and a 9.2 on Miami CBS affiliate WFOR. West Palm Beach, a secondary market for the Dolphins, topped both with a 17.8 rating. Las Vegas (15.4) and New Orleans (13.2) were the top neutral markets.
