The latest edition of Thursday Night Football scored one of the largest audiences ever on NFL Network.
The Week 14 Vikings/Cardinals Thursday Night Football game drew a 5.5 final rating and 8.7 million viewers on NFL Network, flat in ratings and down 4% in viewership from Cowboys/Bears last year (5.5, 9.1M) and up 83% and 89%, respectively, from Texans/Jaguars in 2013 (3.0, 4.6M).
The Cardinals’ win drew the ninth-largest audience ever for an NFL game broadcast exclusively by NFL Network, with two of the top ten taking place this season.
Despite the solid performance, Thursday’s game was the third of four on NFL Network this season to have a decline in viewership. Including the CBS simulcasts, six of 10 TNF telecasts have declined.
TNF had a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49, down a tick from last year (3.2) but up 82% from 2013 (1.7).
