The second edition of ABC’s NBA Saturday Primetime was less of a draw in the metered markets.
The Spurs/Cavaliers NBA regular season game drew a 2.5 overnight rating on ABC Saturday night, down 14% from Bulls/Cavaliers one week earlier (2.9). The 2.5 is tied as ABC’s lowest for an game involving LeBron James in nearly seven years — since Celtics/Cavaliers in April 2009 (2.2).
Despite the soft performance, the Cavaliers’ comfortable win trailed only the Pro Bowl (5.0) as the weekend’s highest rated sporting event in the metered markets. Head-to-head, it topped coverage of the UFC on FOX (1.7).
On Sunday, Bulls/Clippers drew a 2.3 overnight — down 32% from ABC’s first late Sunday game last year, Thunder/Cavaliers (3.4). The 2.3 is tied as the second-lowest for the late Sunday window on ABC since 2011, with the four lowest overnights over that span involving the Clippers.
