Coming off of a down year for The Masters, the PGA Heritage Classic had a steep decline last weekend.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Heritage Classic earned a 1.6 final rating and 2.5 million viewers on CBS last Sunday afternoon, down 30% in ratings and 29% in viewership from last year (2.3, 3.5M) but up 23% and 26%, respectively, from 2014 (1.3, 2.0M).
The telecast earned the second-lowest rating and viewership for final round PGA coverage this season, ahead of only Torrey Pines in January (1.5, 2.3M). The year-over-year declines were the second-highest for any round on broadcast this season, trailing only Torrey Pines.
Third round action the previous day had a 1.1 and 1.7 million, down 21% in ratings and 17% in viewership last year (1.4, 2.0M) and down 15% and 6%, respectively, from 2014 (1.3, 1.8M).
Including The Masters, ratings and viewership have now declined for the past six PGA Tour windows on broadcast TV.
