There is a new sports talk show in the works at TBS. In other news, the Sports Jeopardy! game show is headed to NBCSN, and the ESPY Awards will again air on ABC.
Rob Riggle’s Sportsbook (TBD, TBS)
- TBS has ordered a pilot for a weekly sports talk show hosted Fox NFL Sunday comedian and former Daily Show correspondent Rob Riggle. Titled Rob Riggle’s Sportsbook, the show would apparently be based in Las Vegas. Should it survive to series, it would join a mostly failed list of sports-comedy talk shows ranging from ESPN’s Mohr Sports to Comedy Central’s Sports Show with Norm MacDonald. Sports Jeopardy! (August 6, NBCSN)
- NBCSN has acquired rights to encore episodes of the Dan Patrick-hosted Crackle game show Sports Jeopardy! and will begin airing the series later this year. The show will make its NBCSN debut during the Olympics, airing nightly from August 6 until the conclusion of the Games on August 20, before settling into a Wednesday night timeslot in the fall. The ESPY Awards (8 PM July 13, ABC)
- For the second straight year, ESPN’s annual ESPY Awards will air on broadcast sibling ABC. The telecast is scheduled for July 13 at 8 PM. Last year’s ESPYs was the highest rated in the history of the event, more than doubling the previous record. (ABC via TV By the Numbers)
