- Turner Sports sideline reporter Craig Sager is on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated, the first member of the sports media to grace the cover since John Madden in July 2002. Sager, who has been battling leukemia for more than two years, is the subject of a profile by Lee Jenkins chronicling his ongoing battle. (SI.com)
Breer Joins MMQB
- NFL Network reporter Albert Breer has joined Sports Illustrated‘s The MMQB, SI announced last week, contributing both video and print content for the Peter King run website. Breer had been with NFL Network since 2010 and has recently called his time there “very limiting.” (Awful Announcing [1], [2])
Talker Leaving ESPN2
- ESPN announced Tuesday that Skip Bayless, a panelist on the ESPN2 talk show First Take, will leave the network when his contract expires this summer. His final appearance will be after the NBA Finals. Bayless had been with ESPN since 2004 and is expected to wind up at Fox Sports 1. (ESPN Media Zone, New York Times)
