Though not as strong as the opener, Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals hit a seven-year high on TNT.
Game 2 of the Thunder/Warriors NBA Western Conference Finals had a 4.7 fast-national rating and 7.6 million viewers on TNT Wednesday night, up 31% in ratings and 28% in viewership from Cavaliers/Hawks on a Friday last year (3.6, 5.9M) and up 27% and 33%, respectively, from Thunder/Spurs in 2014 (3.7, 5.7M).
Compared to Game 2 of last year’s Rockets/Warriors WCF on ESPN, ratings increased 7% and viewership 10% from a 4.4 and 6.9 million.
The Warriors’ blowout win, which peaked at a 5.6 and 9.1 million from 10:45-11 PM ET, ranks as the highest rated and most-watched Game 2 of the West Finals since Nuggets/Lakers on ESPN in 2009 (4.9, 7.9M). Regardless of conference, it ranks fourth over that span behind Heat/Pacers in 2014 (4.9, 7.5M), Celtics/Heat in 2012 (5.7, 8.8M) and Heat/Bulls in 2011 (6.1, 10.0M).
Ratings and viewership have now increased for all 12 Warriors playoff games this year, with 10 of those 12 windows hitting a multi-year high in both measures.
Unlike Game 1, Game 2 was not the night’s top program among adults 18-49, ranking a distant second behind the season finale of Empire on FOX (4.1 to 3.1).
