Though still above last year, overnights for Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals dipped from the opener.
Game 2 of the Thunder/Warriors NBA Western Conference Finals scored a 5.9 overnight rating on TNT Wednesday night, up 28% from Cavaliers/Hawks on a Friday night last year (4.6) and up 34% from Thunder/Spurs in 2014 (4.4). Compared to Game 2 of last year’s Rockets/Warriors West final on ESPN, overnights increased 5% from a 5.6.
Game 1 of the series on Monday had a 6.7, but that game was much closer.
Golden State’s blowout win, which peaked at a 7.1 from 10:45-11 PM ET, tied the highest overnight for a Game 2 in the conference finals since Celtics/Heat in 2012 (6.6) — matching Heat/Pacers in 2014.
Locally, Game 2 had a 21.5 rating in the Bay Area — up a third from last year’s Rockets/Warriors Game 2 (15.9). It also had a 20.0 rating in Oklahoma City, down 4% from Thunder/Spurs Game 2 in 2014 (20.8). Tulsa (10.8), Cleveland (10.0) and Sacramento (9.3) rounded out the top five.
