Considering it aired on Fox Sports 1, last week’s Pac-12 game of the week did pretty well in the ratings.
Last Saturday’s Washington/Utah college football game had a 0.9 final rating and 1.4 million viewers on FS1, up 200% in ratings and 185% in viewership from Oklahoma/Kansas last year (0.3, 482K) and up 800% and 904%, respectively, from FAU/Marshall in 2014 (0.1, 137K).
The Huskies’ win delivered the second-best rating and viewership on FS1 this season, trailing only Texas/Oklahoma in week six (1.7, 2.8M).
As one would expect, FS1 still could not compare to the other networks. Saturday’s game ranked well behind Florida/Georgia on CBS (2.6, 4.5M), Northwestern/Ohio State on ESPN (2.2, 3.7M), Baylor/Texas on ABC (2.2, 3.5M) and Miami/Notre Dame on NBC (1.7, 2.6M). Among Nielsen rated networks, only Texas Tech/TCU on ESPN2 (0.3, 505K) and Maryland/Indiana on ESPNU (236K) posted worse numbers in the mid-afternoon window.
In primetime, Kansas/Oklahoma scored a 0.4 and 636,000 — flat in ratings but down 14% in viewership from Texas/Iowa State last year (0.4, 742K). The Stanford/Arizona nightcap had a 0.2 (-8%) and 370,000 (-4%).
Over on the FOX broadcast network, the Noon ET West Virginia/Oklahoma State game had a 1.3 and 2.0 million — up a tick in ratings and 6% in viewership from USC/California last year (1.2, 1.9M) and up 63% and 68%, respectively, from Texas Tech/TCU in ’14 (0.8, 1.2M). Both of those games aired in later mid-afternoon windows.
