The NHRA season finale sank from last year, but the full season improved double-digits. In other news, the F1 Brazil GP scored a slight increase, and NASCAR’s Xfinity Series had another decline.
NHRA Finale Down, But Season Up
- Live coverage of the NHRA season finale from Pomona (CA) had a 0.2 final rating and 244,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1 last Sunday, flat in ratings and down 27% in viewership from last year (0.2, 335K) and down 60% and 69%, respectively, from 2014 (0.5, 799K), both of which were tape delayed on ESPN2. The final six NHRA races, each of which aired on an NFL Sunday, declined from last year. Even so, the full season increased 24% from last year on the ESPN family of networks (from 513K to 624K).
F1 Brazil GP Ekes Out Increase
- Formula 1 racing from Brazil had a 0.3 final rating and 505,000 viewers on NBCSN last Sunday, flat in ratings and up 2% in viewership from last year (0.3, 493K) and down 40% and 20%, respectively, from taped coverage on the NBC broadcast network in 2014 (0.5, 630K).
Phoenix Xfinity Race Down on NBCSN
- NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Phoenix had a 0.6 final rating and 1.1 million viewers on NBCSN last Saturday night, down a tick in ratings and 14% in viewership from last year’s afternoon coverage (0.7, 1.2M) and down 50% and 44%, respectively, from 2014 on ESPN (1.2, 1.9M).
