NBC quite possibly earned its lowest ever overnight rating for Notre Dame football over the weekend. In other news, the NFL national window hit a season-low in the overnights and NASCAR’s Phoenix race plunged 25% from the last time it was run as scheduled.
Ugly Numbers For Notre Dame on NBC
- The Army/Notre Dame Shamrock Series game from San Antonio delivered a 1.0 overnight rating on NBC Saturday afternoon, down 29% from Wake Forest/Notre Dame last year (1.4) and down 50% from Northwestern/Notre Dame in 2014 (2.0). The 1.0 also trails last year’s Shamrock Series game between Notre Dame and Boston College, which aired on cable network NBCSN (1.3). Complete records are not available, but it is likely that the 1.0 overnight is the lowest in Notre Dame’s 25 year history on NBC.
Season-Low For NFL Singleheader
- The Week 11 NFL singleheader window earned an 8.3 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 29% from last year on FOX (11.7) and down 26% from 2014 on CBS (11.2). The 8.3 is the lowest of the season for the singleheader and by a wide margin; the previous mark was a 10.2.
Yet Another Bad Week For NASCAR
- NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Phoenix, the penultimate race in the Chase For the Cup, had a 2.1 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon — down 25% from 2014 on ESPN, the last time it was run as scheduled (2.8). Last year’s postponed race had a 1.3 overnight on NBCSN.
