The final Thursday night game of the season neared a season-high in the metered markets.
The Week 16 Giants/Eagles Thursday Night Football game had a 12.5 overnight rating on NBC and NFL Network, up 198% from Chargers/Raiders last year, a Christmas Eve game that aired exclusively on NFL Network (4.2).
The 12.5 is tied as the second-highest TNF overnight this season, matching Texans/Patriots in Week 3 and behind only Cowboys/Vikings in Week 13.
Each of NBC’s five Thursday Night Football games posted a double-digit increase in the overnights, though with an important caveat. Four of the five games were compared to matchups that aired exclusively on NFL Network last year, and the fifth involved the Cowboys.
Philadelphia was the night’s top market with a 28.9 rating, followed by Norfolk, VA (19.1). New York City ranked third at an 18.8, with Dallas-Ft. Worth (18.1) and Richmond, VA (16.9) rounding out the top five.
