The last vestiges of “The 1 For Fun” have been cut loose.
Fox Sports 1 has canceled Fox Sports Live and will not renew the contracts of hosts Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole, Sports Business Daily reported Thursday. Onrait and O’Toole were among the first hires at FS1, having joined the then-upstart network after a successful run co-anchoring SportsCentre on Canada’s TSN.
Onrait and O’Toole were the last remaining members of the original “Fox Sports Live” team, which included a panel featuring Charissa Thompson, Donovan McNabb, Andy Roddick, Gary Payton and several others. The show changed formats several times as FS1 shifted from trying to be a “fun alternative” to ESPN to carbon copy of ESPN2’s opinion shows.
FS1 has also canceled the current version of the show Garbage Time, according to Awful Announcing, though nothing has been decided yet vis-a-vis host Katie Nolan.
