Middling Numbers For Midweek EPL
- Tuesday’s Chelsea/Liverpool English Premier League match scored 253,000 viewers on NBCSN, ranking 15th out of 29 weekday matches this season. The teams’ previous meeting, also on a weekday, had 292,000 back in September. On Wednesday, Hull City/Manchester United had 163,000. There were no comparable matches in week 23 of last season, which consisted of weekend play.
24 Hours of Daytona Up on FOX, FS1
- Coverage of the 24 Hours of Daytona auto race scored a 0.5 final rating and 714,000 viewers on the FOX broadcast network last Saturday, up a tick in ratings and 36% in viewership from 2015 (0.4, 525K). The network did not air coverage last year. Later in the day on Fox Sports 2, five hours of coverage attracted 131,000 viewers (-8%). Sunday’s conclusion had a 0.3 (flat) and 516,000 (+20%) on Fox Sports 1, the network’s largest audience for the race since rebranding from Speed Channel in 2013.
X Games Down on ABC, ESPN
- ABC earned a 0.7 final rating and 1.1 million viewers for coverage of the Winter X Games last Saturday afternoon, down a tick in ratings and 11% in viewership from last year (0.8, 1.20M) and down a tick and 13% respectively from 2015 (0.8, 1.22M). On ESPN, Sunday afternoon coverage had a 0.4 (-33%) and 686,000 (-25%) and Saturday night action scored a 0.4 (-33%) and 664,000 (-39%).
