NBCSN earned its second-largest Formula 1 audience yet. In other news, IndyCar hit a season-high on cable and the NHRA crossed the million viewer mark yet again.
NBCSN Nears F1 High at Azerbaijan
- Sunday’s Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix earned a 0.38 final rating and 598,000 viewers on NBCSN, up 5% in ratings and viewership from the race at the same location last year (0.36, 569K) and the second-most watched F1 race ever on NBCSN. The 2015 Bahrain GP holds the top spot (630K). Five straight F1 races, and six of eight this season, have posted increases in viewership.
IndyCar Hits Season-High on Cable
- IndyCar Series racing from Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wi.) earned a 0.37 rating and 568,000 viewers on NBCSN Sunday afternoon, up 12% in ratings and 21% in viewership from last year (0.33, 470K). Prior to last year, the race had been on hiatus since 2007. It was the most-watched IndyCar race of the season on cable, topping Texas two weeks earlier (561K).
Another Million For NHRA
- Airing after NASCAR Cup Series coverage, taped NHRA eliminations from Mid-Ohio earned 1.1 million viewers on Fox Sports 1 Sunday afternoon — up 65% from last year, when coverage aired live before NASCAR (651K). Ratings increased 59% year-over-year (from 0.41 to 0.65). It was the sixth NHRA telecast to top the million viewer mark this season, compared to four all of last year.
