The Stanley Cup Final continues to trend up by double-digits compared to last year.
Saturday’s Penguins-Predators Stanley Cup Final Game 3 earned a 2.2 overnight rating on NBCSN, up 16% from Penguins-Sharks last year (1.9) but down 24% from Lightning-Blackhawks in 2015, which aired on a Monday night (2.9).
The 2.2 is the second-lowest Game 3 overnight in the past five years, but the highest for a Saturday night Game 3 since 2003 (five telecasts).
The game earned a 22.2 rating in Pittsburgh, down 21% from last year’s Game 3 (28.2) and down 15% from Red Wings-Penguins Game 3 on NBC in 2009 (26.1). It had a 16.6 in Nashville, the market’s second-best NHL rating on the NBC family of networks. Game 1 had a 22.5 rating.
