One week after their highly-rated head-to-head, Mexico and Germany moved the needle again.

Telemundo’s telecast, which peaked with 7.6 million from 12:30-12:45 PM ET, delivered the ninth-largest World Cup audience ever on Spanish-language TV. Mexico’s opening match against Germany ranks sixth.
The match had a streaming audience of 574,000, a record for Spanish-language World Cup coverage.
The same match had 4.6 million viewers on FOX, including pre-match coverage. Combined across TV and streaming, the match had 10.7 million with pre-match included.
Later Saturday, Germany-Sweden earned 5.4 million viewers on FOX. Excluding U.S. matches, it was the most-watched English-language group stage window since at least 1990. Keep in mind that includes the pre-match. In the same timeslot four years ago, Germany-Ghana had 5.7 million on ABC (excluding pre-match coverage).
Germany’s win, which peaked at 6.7 million, was the most-watched English-language soccer telecast since the 2015 Women’s World Cup final. Including the streaming audience of 239,000 on Fox Sports GO, it had 5.6 million.
The same match pulled 3.4 million on Telemundo (excluding the pre-match window) — up 13% from Germany-Ghana on Univision in ’14 (3.0M).
The World Cup is now averaging 2.0 million viewers on Telemundo (excluding pre-match windows) and 2.1 million on Fox Sports (including the pre-match). Comparable averages at this point of the 2014 World Cup were not available.
