It did well by Pac-12 standards, but last weekend’s Stanford-Oregon ratings sank double-digits on ABC.
Stanford-Oregon scored a 2.5 rating and 4.17 million viewers on ABC’s Saturday Night Football last weekend, down 19% in ratings and 21% in viewership from last year (Penn State-Iowa: 3.1, 5.26M) but up a tick and 10% respectively from 2016 (Stanford-UCLA: 2.4, 3.79M).
The Cardinal’s comeback win, which peaked with 5.9 million viewers from 11:15-11:30 PM ET, was the most-watched regular season Pac-12 conference matchup since USC-Washington on FOX in November 2016 (4.30M).
With streaming viewership included, the game had 4.29 million.
Earlier in the day, ABC drew a 1.7 and 2.44 million for Notre Dame-Wake Forest — down 32% in ratings and 35% in viewership from regional action last year (2.5, 3.75M) and flat and down 5% respectively from 2016 (FSU-USF: 1.7, 2.56M).
The game earned ABC’s smallest Notre Dame audience in at least a decade.
Rounding out a day of double-digit declines, Clemson-Georgia Tech drew a 1.2 and 1.81 million — down 40% in ratings and 42% in viewership from last year (USC-Cal: 2.0, 3.12M) and down 50% and 52% respectively from 2016 (Penn State-Michigan: 2.4, 3.76M).
Eight of ABC’s 13 college football windows this season have declined. Seven of those eight have declined double-digits in both ratings and viewership.
