The conclusion of ESPN’s Lance Armstrong documentary averaged even fewer viewers than part one, but edged out part two of “Vick” earlier this year. Plus: figures for UFC on ESPN 9, Supercross, the NASCAR Xfinity Series and more.
“Lance” down in week two, but beats part two of “Vick”
Part two of the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary “Lance” — about the rise and fall of cyclist Lance Armstrong — averaged a combined 796,000 viewers across ESPN and ESPN2 Sunday night, down 7% from part one the previous week (857K).
Compared to part two of the previous 30 For 30, “Vick” earlier this year, viewership increased 17% from 681,000.
As was the case the previous week, “Lance” was no match for the previous night’s re-air of “The Last Dance” on ABC. The encore presentation of part three averaged 1.27 million viewers.
UFC on ESPN 9 down double-digits from previous main event
The ninth UFC on ESPN main event averaged a 0.6 rating and 1.02 million viewers Saturday night, down 15% in ratings and viewership from the previous telecast two weeks earlier (0.75, 1.20M). Not counting a March card that was moved to ESPN at the last minute, it was the least-watched main event on linear TV since last October on ESPN2 (805K).
Prelims averaged a 0.39 and 615,000.
Supercross return down from last May
Live coverage of the AMA Supercross Series averaged a 0.36 rating and 558,000 viewers on NBC Sunday, up 20% in ratings and 15% in viewership from its previous telecast in January, which aired opposite an NFL playoff game (0.30, 485K). Compared to NBC’s lone May window last year, which took place earlier in the month, ratings fell 14% (from 0.42) and viewership 11% (from 625K).
Lead-in coverage on NBCSN averaged 150,000.
Plus: NASCAR Xfinity, Peleton, Encores
Monday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race from Bristol (Tenn.), which was bumped from Saturday in a rain-fueled schedule shake-up, averaged 561,000 viewers on FS1 — down 34% from last year’s race, which was run as scheduled in April (850K). … ESPN averaged 239,000 viewers for the Peleton All-Star Challenge on Saturday, up 141% from an eSports event in the same window a week earlier (99K). … The PGA Tour topped the weekend’s sports encores, with CBS averaging a 0.52 and 758,000 for the final round of the 2018 Quicken Loans National on Saturday and a 0.46 and 648,000 for the final round of the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday. ABC followed with a 0.41 and 580,000 for a Sunday re-air of Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals (Cavaliers-Warriors).
