UniMas and TUDN combined to average a 0.7 rating and 1.61 million viewers for the Mexico-Honduras Concacaf Nations League match last Tuesday night, the largest sports audience of the day on any network. Spanish-language soccer broadcasts took up two of the top three spots as a Brazil-Argentina World Cup qualifier scored a 0.7 and 1.50 million on Telemundo and Universo.
The NBA was the top English-language draw as TNT scored a 0.8 and 1.55 million for Cavaliers-Sixers in the In-Season Tournament, up 38% in ratings and 49% in viewership from Grizzlies-Pelicans last year (0.6, 1.04M). In the nightcap, the Lakers’ rout of the Jazz averaged a 0.8 and 1.49 million — up 55% and 68% respectively from Nets-Kings a year ago (0.54, 888K).
In college basketball, a Tennessee-Purdue Maui Invitational semifinal led the way with a 0.7 and 1.39 million on ESPN — up 13% in ratings and 20% in viewership from Creighton-Arkansas last year (0.6, 1.16M) and the most-watched semifinal at the event since 2018 (Duke-Auburn: 2.17M). The Kansas-Marquette nightcap drew a 0.53 and 921,000, up two-thirds and three-quarters respectively from last year (Arizona-San Diego State: 0.32, 525K). The College Football Playoff rankings show led in with 887,000.
Shifting to on-field college football, Eastern Michigan-Buffalo “MACtion” scored a 0.22 and 384,000 on ESPN2, up 68% from Bowling Green-Ohio on ESPNU a year ago (229K).
