Storm says she was treated for early form of cancer
Longtime ESPN SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm said Tuesday that she was diagnosed with an early, “Stage Zero” form of breast cancer earlier this year, underwent successful surgery and now has no sign of the disease.
Storm, who made the announcement on ABC’s Good Morning America and in an essay distributed by ESPN, had the surgery on February 1 and was back on-air to cover the lead-up to Super Bowl 53 just ten days later.
James, Redick, team up for podcast
Los Angeles Lakers F LeBron James and ESPN lead NBA analyst J.J. Redick are partnering on a new podcast that launched Tuesday. Titled “Mind the Game,” the podcast features James and Redick discussing the mechanics of basketball in-depth, pointedly avoiding the “embrace debate” ethos favored by the NBA’s lead broadcast partner (and Redick’s employer) ESPN.
The podcast is a partnership of the hosts’ respective media companies, James’ Uninterrupted and Redick’s ThreeFourTwo Productions. News of the podcast was broken Monday by The Athletic.
Showalter returns to television
The Athletic reported Monday that former New York Mets manager Buck Showalter, who has cycled between managerial jobs and television for more than two decades, is returning to television as analyst for MLB Network. Showalter previously worked for MLB Network from 2020-21 and had stints with ESPN from 2001-02 and 2008-10.
