As the curtain falls on the 2024-25 NFL season, Sports Media Watch looks ahead to next fall’s kickoff. The full NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 14 during a primetime special on NFL Network and ESPN2. This page will track schedule announcements until then, check back later for more updates.
Opening Week Games
- The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday, September 4 on NBC and Peacock.
- It’s not known whether FOX or CBS (or both) will feature a Sunday doubleheader in Week 1. Fox traditionally opened the season with a doubleheader before the season expanded to 18 weeks in 2021. The NFL tried 3 seasons of both networks opening with a doubleheader, before moving that later in the season to give Fox a Week 1 doubleheader.
International Games
- The Los Angeles Chargers will host a game at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paolo, Brazil on Friday evening, September 5, with the Kansas City Chiefs reportedly the favorite team to face LA. YouTube will stream the game for free worldwide.
- The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Minnesota Vikings at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on September 28 (Week 4)
- The Vikings will then hop over the Irish Sea to play the Cleveland Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on October 5.
- Hotspur Stadium will also host the Denver Broncos and New York Jets in Week 6.
- Closing out the London slate will be the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars on October 19.
- The Indianapolis Colts will host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10 at Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany.
- The Miami Dolphins will face the Washington Commanders at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain on November 16.
- All the European games will air on NFL Network at 9:30 AM ET.
Holiday Games
- The NFL is expected to schedule its traditional Thanksgiving Day tripleheader on November 27, with the Detroit Lions playing on Fox at 1:00 PM (a change from the traditional 12:30 start), the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on CBS at 4:30, and a nightcap on NBC.
- Amazon Prime Video will present its third annual Black Friday game on November 28, featuring the Chicago Bears at the Philadelphia Eagles at 3:00 PM.
- Netflix will present two Christmas Day games again on Thursday, December 25: Cowboys-Commanders at 1:00 and Lions-Vikings at 4:30 PM. Prime Video will air Broncos-Chiefs in primetime on Christmas Day game as part of its Thursday Night Football package.
Marquee Matchups
- A Super Bowl LIX rematch will take place as the Chiefs will host the Eagles this season.
- As divisional rivals, the Eagles and Commanders will meet twice this season in a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship. FOX will carry the meeting in Washington on Saturday, December 20 (Week 16), with the other surely in primetime. The AFC finalists will rematch in Buffalo, as the Bills and Chiefs meet for the sixth straight season.
- The Eagles will visit the Packers on Monday Night Football in week 10 on ESPN and ABC.
- The Bills will also host the Eagles, and the Chiefs will host the Lions and Commanders as well.
- The Detroit Lions will play on the road against the Bengals and Ravens.
- Saints-Dolphins and Vikings-Browns will be played in Miami and Cleveland, respectively, for the first time since 2009, as these interconference matchups were played internationally when they were last scheduled in 2017.
Special Games
- ABC and ESPN will again combine for three Monday-night split doubleheaders with staggered start times. ABC will also simulcast an unknown number of games from ESPN’s Monday Night Football schedule.
- FOX will air a Saturday doubleheader of Eagles-Commanders and Packers-Bears in Week 16. Kickoff times were not announced. These games will air opposite the first round of the College Football Playoff on ESPN and/or TNT.
- Peacock will air a streaming-exclusive game in Week 17, Saturday night in primetime, with the matchup selected later in the season. ESPN+ will also be given one exclusive game, with exact scheduling to be determined. Other Week 17 Saturday games could air on NFL Network or another platform.
- ABC and ESPN will also air a Saturday doubleheader in Week 18.
Preseason Games
- NBC will air the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game from Canton, OH on Thursday, July 31 at 8 PM. The Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions will face off to open the league’s preseason.
- CBS, FOX, ESPN, and Amazon will each air one exclusive game in the preseason, with all other preseason national telecasts carried by NFL Network.
NFL Playoffs
- NBC, ESPN/ABC, CBS, FOX, and Amazon will each carry one Wild Card game January 10-12, with NBC’s on Sunday night, January 11 and ESPN’s on Monday, January 12.
- NBC, ESPN/ABC, CBS, and FOX will each carry one Divisional Round game January 17-18.
- CBS will air the AFC Championship at 3 PM, with the NFC Championship at 6:30 PM on FOX on January 25.
- ESPN and ABC will air the 2026 Pro Bowl Games on February 1.
- NBC will air Super Bowl LX from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA on February 8, which coincides with the opening weekend of the 2026 Winter Olympics on the same network.
