The lead ESPN NBA broadcast team of Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy will call two games thousands of miles apart on Christmas Day.
Breen and Van Gundy will call ABC’s 2:30 PM ET Heat/Mavericks game from Dallas on Christmas Day and then fly to the Bay Area to call the 10:30 PM ET Clippers/Warriors matchup on ESPN.
The latter game will feature the coaching debut of former ESPN NBA analyst Mark Jackson.
Though rare, this broadcasting doubleheader is not unprecedented. On Christmas Day 2006, Michele Tafoya worked the sidelines for Lakers/Heat at 2:30 PM on ABC and then Jets/Dolphins at 8:30 PM on ESPN. Of course, both games took place in the same city.
Mike Tirico will also have a tough travel schedule over the Christmas holiday, working Bulls/Lakers at 5 PM Christmas Day on ABC and then Falcons/Saints the next night on ESPN.
