- Super Bowl XLII was an unmitigated ratings success. Giants/Patriots drew the highest overnight for a Super Bowl in 21 years. The game drew a 43.1/65 final rating, the highest since 2000, and the 97.5 million viewers who tuned into the game was the most ever for a Super Bowl.

- A blowout did not help ABC on Sunday. The Pistons’ 90-67 win over the Mavericks drew a 2.0 overnight opposite Super Bowl pregame coverage. The 2.0 marks a 5% decline from the comparable Pistons/Cavaliers game in ’07.
- College basketball did not light up the ratings for ABC. The 1.5 for regional coverage on Saturday afternoon marks a 17% decline from comparable coverage last year.

- Even without Tiger Woods, the FBR Open saw a nice bump on Sunday. The 2.6 for final round coverage on CBS marks an 18% increase over the 2.2 for comparable coverage on NBC last year.
