- Roger Clemens: The central figure in the ongoing Major League Baseball drug scandal has opted not to appear during ESPN the Weekend later this month. In a statement released by ESPN, Clemens said his “participation could be a distraction.” Clemens was supposed to host ESPN the Weekend, with NFL player Donovan McNabb.
- Andrea Kremer: The one-time ESPN reporter, now working for NBC Sunday Night Football, blasted her former employer after Monday Night Football sideline reporters Michele Tafoya and Suzy Kolber were demoted. In an interview with USA Today, Kremer chided ESPN for “humiliating” Tafoya and Kolber, and asserted that the demotions “[set] back women.” “This isn’t five years ago, with eye candy on the sidelines. We established ourselves as reporters, professionals. Now, you’ve completely minimized that.”
- Shaun King and Marcellus Wiley: The ESPN NFL analysts are getting a new gig, replacing the heinously overexposed Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic on ESPN AFL telecasts. King and Wiley will work the first ESPN AFL telecasts of the season, when Dallas plays Georgia on ABC in March. Afterwards, the two will work separately, with play-by-play men Joe Tessitore, Dave Pasch and Bob Wischusen.
