Major League Baseball opened its season with a bang on ESPN.
Braves/Nationals on Sunday night was the most watched Opening Night broadcast ever on the ESPN family of networks. The game drew a 2.8 cable rating with 3.7 million viewers, up 4% from last year’s Opening Night game between the Mets and Cardinals.
The Opening Night milestone is just the latest for ESPN in the past few months. In recent weeks, the network has also aired two most watched college basketball games and its third most watched NBA regular season game.
