The final game of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals topped Memorial Day sports viewership.
Monday’s Celtics-Pacers NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 4 averaged 6.63 million viewers across ESPN and ESPN2, up 1% from Heat-Celtics Game 4 on TNT last year — which did not coincide with the Memorial Day holiday — and the top sportscast of the day. For more on Game 4 viewership and the full series, see this article.
The NHL Western Conference Final placed second for the day as Stars-Oilers Game 3 averaged a combined 1.76 million across TNT (1.69M) and truTV (65K), up 40% from Golden Knights-Stars last year (1.26M). (As with the NBA, last year’s game did not coincide with the Memorial Day holiday.) The first three games of the Stars-Oilers series averaged 1.60 million viewers, up 4% from last year’s WCF. Across both the United States and Canada, where coverage is airing on CBC, SportsNet and TVAS, the series is averaging 4.2 million (+63%).
The NCAA men’s lacrosse national championship between Maryland and Notre Dame averaged 594,000 viewers, down 22% from last year’s 797,000. Coverage was initially moved up from 1 PM ET to Noon to avoid rain, but was later delayed until after 2 PM. (The 437,000 figure listed in the below chart is only for the eight minute period before rain delay coverage began).
The NCAA baseball tournament selection show drew 343,000 on ESPN2.
Figures for NBC’s French Open coverage will be added when available.
