…is the insane, elated screaming of ABC executives.
Lakers at Celtics Thursday night. The two most storied franchises in the NBA. A match-up that fans have not seen in 21 years.
The series will not start for five days — the longest layoff between the Conference Finals and NBA Finals since 2003. However, that gives ESPN/ABC time to give this series the most hype it has ever given for an NBA Finals.
Look for marathons on ESPN Classic and ubiquitous appearances by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Expect wistful SportsCenter features, feature-length Bill Simmons articles, and get ready to see way more of Dan Shaughnessy‘s creepily cherubic face than you would like to.
And expect David Stern to write a book called “Now I Can Die In Peace.”
The NBA Finals are must-see-TV.
