Former ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell is apparently heading back to the network.
ESPN told Sports Media Watch Wednesday that it is “in discussions” with Rovell. Earlier in the night, the network said the same to Deadspin and Sports Business Journal reporter John Ourand.
Citing its own sources, The Big Lead reported that Rovell will work as a sports business reporter for both ESPN and ABC News and that CNBC will announce his departure on Thursday.
If Rovell is indeed heading to ESPN, it would be his second stint with the network. Rovell served as a sports business reporter for ESPN.com until 2006, when he joined CNBC.
