- Dick Enberg: One of the great broadcasters of all-time had an unfortunate lapse in judgment today at Wimbledon. While discussing Roger Federer‘s upcoming visit to the studio, Enberg suggested the #1 player in the world would be transported in “[o]ne of those Sultan chairs with four Nubian Slaves.”
- Johnny Miller: The NBC Sports golf broadcaster has apologized for saying Rocco Mediate “looks like the guy who cleans [Tiger Woods’] swimming pool” during coverage of last week’s U.S. Open. The Order Sons of Italy and the National Italian American Foundation both called on NBC to discipline Miller, who they perceived to be insulting Italian Americans with the remark.
- Jemele Hill: The ESPN.com writer was suspended last week after writing that “rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.” Hill apologized for what she termed “very poor judgment in the words that I used.”
