- Apparently, the bloom is off the rose for EliteXC on CBS. The second Saturday Night Fights broadcast on the network drew a mere 2.6 million viewers and a 1.0/3 rating among adults 18-49 in prime time (from 9-11 PM) last night. By comparison, the first broadcast on May 31 drew 4.3 million viewers and a 1.9 among adults 18-49 in prime time. CBS finished third for the night in total viewers and second overall among 18-49s.
- While EliteXC floundered on broadcast last night, the UFC did very well on cable the week before. UFC Fight Night 14 drew a 1.8 national rating and 3.1 million viewers on Spike TV July 19, edging the MLB on FOX telecast airing the same day (3.11 million viewers to 3.07 million). The telecast drew a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49, and peaked with 3.8 million viewers for the Silva/Irwin bout at 11:30 PM.
- The Sparks/Shock brawl did not have an immediate effect on WNBA ratings. Thursday night’s Shock/Comets game on ESPN2, the first nationally televised WNBA game since the fight, drew a 0.25 rating, up only slightly above the 0.23 rating for the previous eleven ESPN2 telecasts.
