The Beijing Olympics are not just a hit on television.
4.2 million unique users visited NBCOlympics.com on Friday, up 496% from 705,000 users for the first day of the Athens Olympics in 2004. NBCOlympics.com had 70 million pageviews, the most ever for the site, and 10 times more than the 7 million pageviews it had on the first day in ’04. The 70 million pageviews was “nearly 50 million more … than the peak day in Athens.”
That was followed up by 62.7 million page views yesterday, up 475% from 10.9 million on the first Saturday of the ’04 Olympics. NBCOlympics.com “registered 3.1 million video streams” on Saturday, dwarfing the 115,000 video streams for the first day of competition at the ’04 games.
Overall, NBCOlympics.com has drawn 132.6 million page views for the first two days of the Beijing Olympics, up 641% from 2004.
