It was a 52-point shutout of a team that lost to UL-Monroe a week earlier — and yet Saturday’s Alabama/Arkansas game still tied the top college football rating of the weekend.
Saturday’s Alabama/Arkansas college football game earned a 3.2 final rating on CBS, up 7% from Tennessee/Florida last year (3.0), but down a tick from Florida/Tennessee in 2010 (3.3).
The game tied ABC’s “Saturday Night Football” as the highest rated college football telecast of the weekend on any network. The Florida/Tennessee game on ESPN (5.076M) was the most-viewed.
Last year’s Arkansas/Alabama game on CBS, which aired one week later in the season, drew a 2.9 rating. The 2010 game between the rivals, which also aired on CBS, drew a much higher 5.2.
