A rematch of last season’s NFC Championship Game scored strong numbers for Fox Sports, but still suffered a sizable decline.
The Week 6 NFL national window, featuring Giants/49ers in 77% of markets, drew a 16.1 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 16% from coverage featuring Cowboys/Patriots last year (19.1), and down 8% from coverage featuring Cowboys/Vikings in 2010 (17.4).
Despite the decline, the telecast earned the second-highest overnight of the season for the NFL national window. Only coverage featuring 49ers/Packers in Week 1 (17.2).
In addition, Sunday’s national window was easily the top NFL telecast of the day. NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” finished a distant second with a 12.6.
Earlier Sunday, regional NFL action featuring Cowboys/Ravens in 66% of markets drew an 11.5 overnight — down 7% from coverage featuring 49ers/Lions last year (12.4), but up 35% from coverage featuring Falcons/Eagles in 2010 (8.5).
